Launched in 1921 by Chanel and composed by Ernest Beaux, N°5 (Eau de Cologne) opens with aldehydes, bergamot, lemon and neroli, turns to iris, jasmine, lily of the valley and rose at the heart and dries down to musk, civet, patchouli and sandalwood. Its main accords are floral, powdery, earthy, chypre and woody.
