What DeMarkets is

DeMarkets is a marketplace where buyers and sellers deal directly with each other. We do not sell anything, and we are not a party to any trade.

Payments are made in USDC through a smart contract escrow. The contract holds the money and follows fixed rules. We do not control it and we cannot move the money.

You do not need an account with us. Your account is a passkey on your own device. We hold nothing for you and we never take custody of your money.

Fees

The fee today is 0 percent. The contract can be set to charge up to 10 percent of the price. Any change is announced on this page 14 days before it takes effect, and a trade already under way keeps the fee it started with.

Deposits

Each side puts down a refundable deposit of 5 USDC. It is returned when the trade closes. It is forfeited only under the rules written in the contract.

Protected trades

In a protected trade the buyer pays into the escrow and the money stays there until the buyer confirms the item arrived. The buyer can release the payment at any time.

If the buyer does nothing for 14 days after paying, the seller can claim the payment. That is the release window.

We do not issue refunds and we do not decide disputes. A dispute is between the buyer and the seller. If you are unhappy, do not release the payment while you talk it through, and leave honest feedback when the trade closes. Feedback is your recourse.

Pay-outside trades

Some listings are settled outside the app. In those trades we are not involved at all. We do not hold the payment, we do not see it and we cannot help with it. Only the deposits go through the contract.

Counterfeits and prohibited items

Do not list counterfeits. Do not list decants of counterfeits. Do not list items you do not own. Do not list goods that are restricted or illegal to sell or ship where you are or where the buyer is.

Sellers state that what they list is authentic. A buyer who receives a counterfeit should refuse to release the payment and leave feedback. We hide repeat offenders from the market.

Shipping and returns

The seller ships within 3 days of payment. The buyer inspects the item before releasing the payment.

Returns happen only if the buyer and the seller agree to one. We cannot force a return or a refund.

Reviews

Reviews are sealed until both sides have written theirs, then revealed. They are recorded on chain. We cannot edit them and we cannot remove them.

Data and privacy

We store the posts you sign (profile, comments, reviews of fragrances and corrections to the directory). If you choose to get sale alerts, we store your email address. We do not ask for identity documents.

Trades and reviews are public on the chain, tied to your account address. Where the directory facts come from, and the license of each source, is on the data sources page.

Changes

These terms are versioned, and the date is at the top. When they change we post the new version here. Until counsel has reviewed them, the line at the top says so.
